The useful outcome
Reconciliation works best with an explicit matching key and a separate list of unmatched records. A guessed name match can make a total look correct while connecting the wrong people or transactions.
An example request
This is an illustrative request, not a customer result or a promise that every connected service supports every step.
Compare these two tables by invoice ID. Show matches, conflicting values and rows found on only one side. Do not silently merge similar names.
A practical sequence
- Choose a reliable matching key
- Compare the same fields and periods
- Produce separate matched and unmatched sections
What to check
Check duplicate keys and leading zeros. A row with no match should remain visible even if excluding it makes the totals agree.
A mistake to avoid
Do not use approximate text matching as proof that two records describe the same transaction.
Using Bris for this work
Analytical work starts with a question and a defined dataset. Bris can help organize sources, examine figures and prepare a reviewable output. Check the units, date window, missing values and formulas before using the result to make a decision.
